Francisco qualified in 1996 from Zaragoza Vet School (Spain) and defended his degree thesis in 1997, moving to England in January 1998. Through an internship and residency at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket he passed his RCVS Radiology Certificate in 2000 and both RCVS and European Diplomas in 2002.
