  Kerry Smith

Kerry graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1994. After several years in general practice she developed a passion for ophthalmology, gaining the RCVS Certificate in 2003. This was followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology at the Animal Health Trust.

Kerry joined Davies Veterinary Specialists in July 2006 and passed the first part of the European Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology later that year. Kerry has a broad interest in ophthalmology including intra-ocular surgery and ocular imaging.

Kerry says: "Ophthalmology is an interesting fusion of medicine and surgery, where an understanding of the structure and function of the eye (a wonderful organ) is essential but must be allied with great technical skill when performing intricate surgeries. It is particularly satisfying to see an animal come in blind and go home with vision, then hearing the delight in an owners voice when they report all the things that their pet can now do again having regained sight.

My greatest achievement as a vet is gaining the skill necessary to be an effective clinician in what is an unforgiving discipline."
