Davies Raises Vital Funds for Streetvet and Announces 2023 Charity

The kind-hearted team at a leading small animal hospital have raised £1,000 for StreetVet thanks to a series of fundraising events throughout 2022.

A ‘Great Davies Bake Off’, a summer raffle, a festive family fun event and Christmas jumper day, were among the charity events at Davies Veterinary Specialists, in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

As well as monetary donations, the Davies team also donated and wrapped more than 30 Secret Santa gifts for StreetVet, a charity which delivers free essential veterinary care and services to the pets of people experiencing homelessness in the UK, to give out to those receiving their support.

Gifts included Christmas toys for pets and gift vouchers for the owners.

Jade Statt, co-founder of StreetVet, said the charity was incredibly grateful for the support from Davies, which will go towards helping its vital work.

She said: “The demand for our services has increased by more than 250 per cent in the last year, so Davies’ fundraising support is so welcomed and needed.

“Our volunteers loved giving out the Christmas gifts and there is no doubt our patients thoroughly enjoyed opening them! Thank you so much to everyone at Davies for their efforts.”

Davies has also announced its nominated charity for 2023 will be Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Haddenham, which is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating all species of British wildlife.

Ben Orton, hospital director at Davies, said: “It was a fantastic team effort to raise a great amount for StreetVet in 2022 and my thanks go to all those who played their part.

“This year, the team have voted to support Tiggywinkles, which does a fantastic job caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.”

This year is a special one for Davies, as the pioneering referral centre marks its 25^th anniversary. As part of its celebrations, the hospital has pledged to carry out 25 fundraising events throughout 2023.

Ben added: “This year marks a very special milestone for Davies as we celebrate 25 years in business and we’re going all out to make it a very special 12 months for our team, colleagues in the profession and also our local community.”
