Davies Support Local Conservation with Forest of Marston Vale Tree‑Planting Event
9th March 2026
On Monday 2nd March, members of the Davies Veterinary Specialists team had the privilege of taking part in a special tree‑planting event with the Forest of Marston Vale Trust. This inspiring local charity is dedicated to environmental regeneration across 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes, using tree planting and woodland creation to improve life for people, wildlife, and the planet. The Trust has already planted over 2 million trees and aims to increase tree cover to 30% across the region—an extraordinary commitment to sustainability and biodiversity that we are proud to support.
A Partnership Rooted in Sustainability
The Forest of Marston Vale Trust’s mission aligns closely with our own commitment to sustainable practice. Their work cools and cleans the air, provides habitats for wildlife, boosts biodiversity, and helps tackle the climate crisis by locking away carbon.
At Davies Veterinary Specialists, one of the largest and most diverse veterinary referral hospitals in Europe, sustainability is built into our ethos. We were the first veterinary practice to achieve accreditation from Investors in the Environment (iiE), demonstrating our dedication to environmental responsibility alongside excellence in specialist veterinary care.
Honouring Pets Through Living Tributes
This tree‑planting day was especially meaningful for our team. At Davies, we offer pet owners the opportunity to have a tree planted at no cost in memory of their beloved companion when they pass away. This living tribute provides families with a growing symbol of love and remembrance—rooted in the heart of our local community.
Each tree planted represents a life loved and remembered. As clinicians who provide advanced veterinary care—from cardiology and neurology to oncology, orthopaedics, and emergency care—we form deep bonds with the patients and families we support. Taking time to reflect on those bonds makes this initiative incredibly special to all of us.
Supporting Local Wildlife and Community Wellbeing
The Forest of Marston Vale Trust continues to restore habitats, create connected wildlife corridors, and provide green spaces that improve physical and mental wellbeing for local communities. Their regeneration work has already increased regional tree cover from 3.6% in the 1990s to more than 15% today—a powerful demonstration of the impact of long‑term environmental investment.
Being able to support this work hands‑on is a privilege. For our team—whether we are providing specialist veterinary treatment, responding to emergency referrals, or supporting pets through complex medical journeys—wellbeing and compassion are central to everything we do. Contributing to the health of our natural environment feels like a natural extension of the care we provide every day as a trusted pet referral centre for families and referring vets across the region.
Why This Matters to Our Patients and Community
Families seeking the highest standard of veterinary referral care often come to Davies for our wide range of disciplines, including internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, neurology, and advanced diagnostic imaging. Our tree‑planting memorial initiative offers an additional layer of compassion at a difficult time, helping families honour their pets in a meaningful and sustainable way.
As a specialist veterinary hospital, we understand that pets are family. Supporting a memorial forest where their legacy can continue to grow is just one of the ways we extend our care beyond the clinical setting.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We extend our sincere thanks to the Forest of Marston Vale Trust for hosting us and for the vital work they do in conservation, regeneration, and sustainability. Their efforts help create a greener future for generations to come, and we are proud to stand alongside them.
