A veterinary specialist at a top Hertfordshire animal hospital is running one of the world’s most famous marathons to raise money for a charity that supports others in her profession.
Anna Threlfall, head of internal medicine at Linnaeus-owned Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hitchin, will compete in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 23.
Her chosen charity is Vetlife, a charity which provides independent, confidential and free help for everyone in the veterinary community including veterinary surgeons, nurses, students and non-clinical staff.
Anna, who has worked at the well-renowned Davies for eight years and was promoted to head of internal medicine last year, said: “Vetlife is literally a lifeline for many people in the veterinary profession but so many do not realise it even exists, let alone the work that it does.
“I’ve decided to run the London Marathon for Vetlife to raise awareness for the charity both within and outside the profession, as well as hopefully raise some money for them.”
Anna said that although her training for the marathon had been tough, she was hoping to finish the world-famous run in under four hours.
She added: “My training has been a bit challenging due to a few niggling injuries but I’m still aiming to complete it in under four hours and I’m very proud to be raising money for the veterinary community.”
The London Marathon passes some of London’s most famous landmarks including Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace. It is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet with runners raising money for a variety of good causes.
